Last Update: We're back!

After a busy few days traveling we have arrived back in New Mexico! Even until the very end of our trip, Father continued to increase our trust in Him as we somehow missed one of our flights and had to spend the night in the Los Angeles airport. One of the things that each of us learned over the past few months is that the Father is sovereign and we can trust in His plans. Needless to say, His plans prevailed in our lives this summer, even in our missed flight. Missing our flight led to us seeing His provisions all the more when a stranger "randomly" offered us a food voucher! It's the seemingly small things like that which cause us to proclaim His excellencies day after day!

We may be back in New Mexico, but that doesn't mean that the place we lived and the people we met this summer are simply a distant memory. Please continue to PR for all of the workers that remain on the field, sharing the good news--that they would continue to persevere in the work that our Father has called them to. Please also continue to lift up our friends--that they would one day surrender their lives to JC. And finally, please PR for East Asia--that Father would be glorified in that place and that those people would one day be known as a people after His own heart.

A few last notes:

Father has changed each of our lives this summer in different ways and we ask that you would PR that rather than slipping back into old habits, we would continue to let Him shape us and draw us ever closer to Him.

As you can imagine, after living overseas for 2 months, we have many more stories than the ones we shared with you in this blog. We encourage you, if possible, to ask us personally about the experiences we have had, as we would love to share more with you!

Thank you for supporting us this summer through PR, finances, and just by reading our updates each week! We hope that through these things, Father has taught you and challenged you to live in a way that points to JC as He has indeed been doing that in our own lives.

Here are a few more pictures from our trip...

Thanks again for journeying with us this summer. Father has used your PRs to impact our lives as well as the lives of many others across the globe.

Sincerely,
TEA

It's Not Over 'Til It's Over

We’ve spent the last week and a half out west and we couldn’t have asked for a better time! We have seen and done so much that it’s impossible to fit it all into one update. Here’s a snapshot of our time out west. PTL we made it there and back safely!

Kabob on a leash...

...Kabob on a stick!

A nice home-cooked meal at our friend's house!

Birthday camel ride!

Night market!

The past 10 days have been jam packed with adventure and many eye-opening sights! We spent the first 3 days of our trip visiting a southwestern city where 2 of the girls’ friends showed us around the city every day. Then we traveled to a larger city where we taught English for a few days, reconnected with some friends, and made a few new ones!

During our time out west, Father opened our eyes to see how lost these people are and how they are searching to be made right with Him. While our hope is found in JC, theirs is found in their works and rituals. It's sad to see all of the darkness that exists among them, but we are confident that Father is revealing truth and find peace in the fact that His timing is perfect.

On Tuesday evening we will board the plane for America, but until then we STILL have a few days left and are excited to see how Father is going to use this time to draw the nations closer to Him.

Please ask Father…
…that we would remain engaged in our last few days here
...that Father would continue to move in our friends' hearts
…that we would have good debriefing time
…for a safe journey back to the land of the free!
…for a smooth transition in going back home

Logan
This is…the final countdooown! It’s unreal how quickly time has passed and that our stay here is almost at an end. We’re back from our trip out west, and it was spectacular in terms of the food we got to eat, the sights we got to see, and the people we got to spend time with. From the very beginning when our flight plans got rearranged up until our flight back east our ability to be flexible was challenged, but through that I think our group had a lot of opportunities to grow closer, and we got to experience a lot of cool things that I wasn’t expecting. It was bittersweet though, because though the culture was exciting, the SP atmosphere was so dark, and the reality is that there is very little light shining in that place. Please lift up our remaining time with friends, and also ask that Father would send more workers for the harvest.
Thanks to everyone who supported this trip, whether big or small, I’m so grateful for all of you. Dad, mom, grandma, my CH family, SWaT, Hot, Projectors, 401-ers, and all my friends back home, I’m excited to hear about all that’s happened, and I’m PRing for you. Adios!

Ryan
This last week or so has been so incredible, it would be so hard to fit it all in one post; while we were there we saw some very beautiful places including a lake that lights up with neon at night and experienced a whole other culture. Not to mention the food was some of the best food I’ve ever had. The memories we made there won’t be forgotten soon, that I know, it has been such a gift to be here this summer! Father has been faithful this summer; He has answered PRs, worked in me and done so many other things. Please ask that in these last few days we would keep our focus on His plan, and that we would have safe travels; its hard to believe we’ll be back in a few days, its been so amazing here, I hope one day I will get the chance to come back, Father willing.
Everyone back home I love you and I’ll see you soon!

Brandon
Wow, I have no idea how to sum up the last 8 days in 5 sentences and now I’ve already wasted one of them so I’ll have to use a lot of ands and some incorrect semicolons. I had no idea what to expect going where we did but it was incredible and quite the adventure; the scenery and weather were especially a nice change and we got to meet some really fun friends and spend a lot of time doing stuff with them. It was really hard for me to see so many people lost and isolated from the truth and the reality of it really hit me when we visited a giant cemetery and saw people going to a funeral. It was neat to be able to see into the lives of the people group we’ve been focused on all summer though and it really put into perspective the importance of the work we’ve been doing all summer. It’s nice to be back in the city we’ve been in all summer though, as it feels really homey and I can’t wait to see everybody in another week. PR for safe travels and a lot of time and opportunities with friends before we leave. Shoutout to everybody in ABQ, can’t wait to see you guys! And Matthew, I’m pretty sure I had a pot of hot cool-aid and it was delicious. We’re drinking it when I get back.

Russ
Well, just like with what everyone else said, there’s just too much that happened in the last week to iterate in a short update like this one. I’m very excited to be going home in the next few days, but I’ve been reminded over and over again that there is still a harvest here to reap for those next few days! Our trip out west was a ton of fun. Between experiencing the culture, the new friends, and the crazy taxi rides, Father has helped me see just how much deceit (temporarily) is in this world. I am excited to be used by the Father and have been brought so much joy from being united with JC. PR that I and the rest of the team will be able to share as much of His love as we can while we’re STILL here.

Thanks to everyone for your support in helping us get here. FBCT, I’m so excited to share all about the Father’s work with you. Shout out to the family, I’ll see you soon! Jori, I’m really looking forward to seeing you… and I’m hoping that’ll include a green chile double cheeseburger… and fries… ;)

Heather
Where has this summer gone? This past week and a half being in different cities was such a great experience for us all! While we were there we were able to do things we didn’t think we were going to be able to do. But seeing the sights and hearing the sounds was hard at times because the darkness was so thick there.  After comin back I know that we have a few more days left here and I can’t wait to see what Father does with these last days! Things you can be PRing for is that there would be light in those dark places and for our friends we were able to share about JC with that they would remember what we shared with them.

Shout-out to the whole Allen Family, I can’t wait to see hopefully all of you in August!!

Gayle
Wow, Father really surprised us with such an amazing trip; at first, I had no idea what to expect going to a new city during this time where our friends don’t eat, but we were still given opportunities to hang out with friends in their element! As busy as we were, Father reminded me to continuously PR for the lostness of this people- especially as we saw them run to PR during the day and night. It made me so thankful of the freedom we have because of Elder Brother. I am looking forward to coming back home and sharing how Father has continued to open my eyes to His ways.

Shout- outs: 505 I miss you and can’t wait to eat your food again ;) Bri- I see birds everyday! Jori, Michelle, Sophia, Liz, Lisa and Josiah: Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Maya
The closer we get to the end of our time here, the longer I want to stay. Saying goodbye to our friends out west was very difficult not knowing if we will ever see them again or if they will ever accept JC. This summer I have been asking Father to break my heart for these people and he has done just that. As some goodbyes were accompanied by many tears, I am reminded that Father loves these people more than I could ever imagine and He desires for them to be a part of His family even more than I do. Please ask that Father would draw our friends to himself and that they would have open hearts to receive and believe the Good News!
Familia, see you guys soon! ;) Anyone who has PRed for us this summer, THANKS!

The next time you hear from us we will be back in the states! Stay tuned for one last update!

Slight Change of Plans!

Exercising flexibility!

So we thought we would be heading out west yesterday, but it seems the Father has a greater plan. Our flight was cancelled due to weather so we are now scheduled to fly out tomorrow. We are eager to see Father’s plan play out in our lives this week! For now, we will leave you with some pictures!

A Trip Within a Trip…Trip-ception!

Fun times together as a team!
Rejoice with us!

--We have had many opportunities to serve the M’s
--Our whole team has been healthy this week

Road construction + rainfall = 2 sunken buses

The guys after a big meal!

As language class comes to a close and most of our friends have gone home for the summer, we have spent a lot of time together as a team this week. Along with visiting many sites and playing lots of games together, it has been encouraging to hear about what Father has been teaching each of us. As the first half of our summer seems to be coming to a close, a new chapter is just beginning to unfold.

On Monday afternoon, we will be traveling west to a different part of the country in order to further immerse ourselves in the culture of the people that we are focused on this summer. We are scheduled to visit 2 different cities and we are all thrilled to see what Father has in store. While we’re there, we are planning on teaching English for a few days and spending the rest of the time PR walking and learning more about the culture. All of the friends that we have spent time with this summer are from this western region so please PR that we will get to see some of them and continue to share truth with them.

Beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news...Rom. 10:15

Please lift us up this week:
  • Safe travels
  • Ask that Father would give us teachable hearts
  • Continued good health
  • Protection from the enemy
  • Ask that Father would be working in our friends’ hearts even though they are no longer in this city

YUM!

Yes, we all ate scorpions...fried, of course!

Heather
It’s July and we are getting ready to finish language class and then like mentioned above go out west. This week has been pretty slow because a lot of our friends have gone back home for the summer. But this week Maya, Gayle and I were able to help the M’s out by putting all 1500 of their books in an online library. Also we as a team have had a lot of time to spend together just playing games and reflecting on our summer, and that has been a blessing from Father. PR that our friends who have gone home would remember the stories we were able to tell them and that they would tell their families about those stories. Shout-outs: Happy 4th to all my fellow Americans! Mom and dad, Jackie, Kelsey, and Rachel- I love you and miss you all and can’t wait to talk to you on your Sunday night!

Gayle
This week has been quite slow relative to other weeks however; Father has shown us that He is still working in and through our team. I was able to hang out with a new friend for 3 hours, granted the first hour was just her talking about how much she disliked her job. I caught myself thinking that this conversation was hopeless then turned to Father to take control over the conversation- the next two hours we sat there and I got to share about fasting, the woman at the well and share about JC (at the end of the night, she said maybe it was Father’s plan that we met…yeah maybe)! If you ever find yourself in a seemingly hopeless situation, turn to Father and allow Him to surprise you!
Shout-outs- Kychelle- give Jude a big hug from me on his 1st bday! While you’re at it, give the Madster a hug too J Mom, Dad, Lisa, and Liz- miss you guys (and Josiah of course…and Edi) Projectors- Miss you girls! Happy 4th! I wish I could give everyone a personal shout-out! Love you all!!

Maya
Although this has not been a typical week for us, Father has been opening my eyes to many things. He is continually challenging me to trust in Him and find my satisfaction in Him alone. Sometimes I tend to think that I know what’s best for my life, but Father has been showing me that His plans for my life are so much greater than anything I could ever imagine for myself. I am unsure of what the future holds, but as long as I am abiding in Father and finding my satisfaction in Him (with the help of the HS, of course), there is nothing I lack. I’m so excited to be a part of the Father’s work and to see the plans that He has for the future, both near and far.
Shout-outs! Mom I loved the scavenger hunt card! Muah! Dad, I PR for you every day! Ram-can’t wait to go visit you! Love you guys! SWAT, Projectors and HOT—can’t wait to hear how Father has been working in and through you!

Brandon
Most of our friends have left so it's been a slower week but we've had the opportunity to rest, get a lot of much needed quiet time, and do some awesome sightseeing. We only have 1 days left of language class so I’m a little sad to stop going but mostly excited to be done. We’ve played a ton of basketball with one of our friends which has been a blast (check for us on YouTube because we’re always getting recorded) and got to play some ping pong for the first time since we came here.  Though it's been really nice and fun, I can’t wait (Father willing) to get to travel and visit our friends next week and see a whole different part of the region. PR for safety as we travel, that we will be able to meet up with friends, and that the Word will do great things where it went out.
Shout-out to America, Happy Birthday! And Cody, don't forget to get the oil changed on the Volvo. Happy 4th!

Logan
Catching up on rest and catching up with each other seems to be the theme of this week, and it’s been really nice. I’m not exactly happy that most of our friends are gone, but it’s been good to relax a bit, reflect on what’s happened so far, and spend more time with Father. Not all of our friends are gone though. For example, the friend that I mentioned a few weeks ago will be here for as long as we are, so I’m excited to see what else Father will do with that. I’m also excited for our little trip to the Wild West! Thanks for your PR, please continue to PR for my friend that his heart would be open to listening to truth, and for us that we would stay rooted firmly in truth. Mom, Dad, Gramma, Hot, Swat- I’m still lifting all of you up. Tyty, thinking about you, bud. Happy 4th everyone!

Russ
As this week has gone by, it’s been a great time to catch up on physical rest and resting in Father. Since most of our friends have left, we’ve spent most of our time eating with each other or playing basketball for hours at a time with a few friends, which has been a blast. We also got to live the dream of playing ping pong against the locals, where Brandon and I actually held our ground pretty well. It was also refreshing this week to finally see some blue skies and sunshine during the day and moonlight and stars at night, something that has been a rarity while living here. This Monday we’re getting ready to experience a whole new culture, which I’m super excited about. PR that the time we have there will open our eyes to the Father’s heart for people.

Ryan
This week almost all of our friends have left to go back to their homes, so we have had a lot of time to hang out as a group, which has been great! Since we have had a lot of free time we have been playing quite a bit of basketball that of course is a lot of fun.  At the end of this week we will be going into a totally new culture and I am so stoked to go see what its like and see how Father will work. So please PR that Father would continue to be at work in our friend’s lives even if we don’t get the chance to see them. Also PR that Father would continue to grow us closer as a group and that we would grow closer to Him as well.
Shout-outs: Jeremy Happy Birthday! I hope that it’s a great one, open up that card. Mom, Dad I love you both, and everyone have a happy 4th, and set off a few extra fireworks for me!

Due to our trip, we will not post a blog entry next week. Check back in two weeks to hear about our time out west. Thank you all for your continued PR! And Happy 4th of July!

For now,
TEA
